QBittorrent was originally developed in March 2006 by Christophe Dumez, from the University of Technology of Belfort-Montbéliard (UTBM). It relies on Boost, Qt 6 toolkit and the libtorrent-rasterbar library (for the torrent back-end), with an optional search engine written in Python. Over 60 active downloads at a time usually brings on the speed loop. Pausing them, then resuming sometimes works. Sometimes newly added torrents get stuck at "checking resume". Why then can I start uTorrent 2.21 on the same box and VPN and it has no speed issues? uTorrent can't handle 10000 torrents though. I tried 3.3.12 64bit and 3.3.16 64bit that ships with libittorrent 1.0 and that also has the unstable speed issue (identical behavior). Sometimes pausing all for a while and then gradually resuming some gets it working again.
It's amazing they closed the tickets on this issue marking them as resolved. The process is unkilllable and the PC has to be restarted. Sometimes they all stay at zero, forcing you to restart qBittorrent which never shutsdown.
The program still has the all torrents drop to zero speed and may loop, repeating going full speed and then back to 0. They fixed the magnet link "no trackers" issue though.
